crawling - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

Dd will be 6 months on April 7th, and she's already trying to crawl. She'll do "push ups", rock back and forth, scoot with her knees then fall down. When are babies supposed to crawl? For now she just rolls to where she wants to go, but she's trying!

my dd never really crawled, but my ds is 8 months yesterday, and is just beginning to move his hands and knees properly to crawl, he did the rocking back and forth a few weeks ago, and is going pretty good now, not perfect yet, but VERY close

my DS also just turned 8mo, and moves around by pushing himself backwards. He looks like he may start to crawl soon, but who knows.

the time is very variable. My friend's DD started a little bit at 9.5mo and then started walking at 10mo. Yet another friend's DD was crawling at 7mo and walking at 18mo. So it could happen early, late or never. Enjoy.

my ds turned 6 mths today and he's been doing the same as Jess's dd.

He rocks on his knees sometimes he actually tries to take off but usually ends up face first. Now he can belly crawl pretty good. He looks like a little army man they way he uses his arms and elbows and crawls on his stomach.

My DD has no interest in crawling. She is 6.5 months. She likes to sit up (needs help getting into the sit position is she's laying down) and is more interested in me helping her to the standing position. She does the muscle work...I just help her keep balance & get her to standing. She can stand by herself for about a minute if she's hanging on to something. She'll kick her legs when she's standing, so I think she'll get the hang of taking steps at some point.

I still work with her on crawling & mostly working to get her arms stronger & steady. And I also coach her on getting her legs in the crawl position. She hates it. She just wants up. I think DD will be one of those who skips crawling and goes to walking.
