Doesn't care for sitting up - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My DS is 9 months old now, and everytime he sit's up on his own, or if we put him down in a sitting position, he'll stay that way for only a few seconds, and then get's down to do something else. He just doesn't seem interested in sitting up, I mean he can sit up, he just doesn't act like he wants to. He seems as if he'd rather be off doing something else...does anyone else's babies do this? He doesn't act like he's in pain when he sit's up, so I know it's not anything like that, I just think he want's to constantly be on the go and doesn't have time to sit up and play that way.

My DD is dong the exact same thing. I can sit her on the floor and she will twist and start crawling - or she will get to the coffee table and step around it. But lately she has been getting down from the table and sitting - but it doesn't last long. She can sit too, but she would rather be on the move also. How is yours doing with getting closer to walking. We have our BWV today.....I am excited to see how much she weighs and how long she is. I love the appointments where there are no shots!!!

If I remember correctly, you were trying the "no cry sleep solution". How is your DD w/ sleep now and did you find the book helpful? I ended up trying a combination of different things, but I think it was mostly CIO that worked the best.

My son doesn't like to sit too long either. But as soon as he is on his stomach for too long he gets frastruated. So I sit him up, and 2s later it's the same thing all over agian. I think w/ mine though the problem is that he is not crawling yet, so he gets mad that he can't get around yet.

Kiedy-
We ended up doing the CIO - it only took two nights and she is mow 9 months old and is sleeping 10-12 hours a night - she fusses from time to time - but she will find a paci and go right back to sleep. On top of that I did find that she would fall back to sleep when I would run my hair dryer in the morning - so I found a CD on the web that is a recording of a hair dryer and it runs all night long......did the trick to be honest with you.

That's good to hear, as I mentioned we also had to resort to CIO. I just think it was too hard to break the old habits. I will try the techniques w/ my second baby, but in that case I will start from the begining.
