Toddler walking in wedding - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My son will be one year and seven months at the time me and my fiance
(his dad) get married, he is now 8 months, he is very close to walking right now, he can stand and take a step or 2, well my problem is..
I want my son to be in my wedding, and everyone tells me it is stupid, anyone have any expieriences with toddles as the ring bearer in weddings, everyone says
1. he wont walk down the aisle, my son is very much a people person and loves attention, he is a little ham
2. he will drop the rings, well if thats the case he can carry an empty pillow and the best man will hold the rings in his pocket!

My son was a ring bearer in his uncles' wedding when he was exactly 2 years old (3 days after his birthday).
They used a fake pillow...who wouldn't with any kid!!!!
My neice held his hand in practice but that day he walked with me...stage fright!!! I would suggest a wagon that you could decorate and some one could pull if you are concerened about how well he is walking or how he will respond.

DD was a flower girl for my neices wedding when she was a couple weeks shy of her 1st birthday. My neice had 2 flower girls, the other was older (10 or so) so they walked together. DD could walk if you held her hand and walked slowly but the other little girl didn't walk slowly enough and didn't support DD enough when they walked so she ended up carrying DD instead. We had thought of the wagon idea which would be a great suggestion because then you don't need to wrry about stage fright. I would use a fake pillow and keep the rings with the best man.

How about have two or three plans in place, then go with whichever seems like he'll do on the big day. I would also have a special person in charge of just your son for the entire day/night. This is your special day and while it will be magical with your son involved, you should be able to relish in your time to be a Princess.

Personally, I wouldn't do the whole walking down the aisle. How about if he walks out with your fiance and stands up there until you get there, you could give him a kiss and hug, then the person in charge of him could take him off to the side or even outside if he decided he'd rather run and play. That way, everyone could see your cute little man, he would get to participate and be in the photos, but you wouldn't have any potential "scenes" down the aisle or at the back of the church trying to get him to go down.

My son is going to be a ring bearer in our wedding in 6 weeks. I am going into it not expecting to much but hoping for the best. He will be 2.5. The flower girl is 3.5 but very mature for her age. I am hoping she will help him down the asile. I do have a 12 year old cousin who will be in charge of my son the whole time so that I can enjoy myself.
