Car Seat..What to do? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My DS is only 3 months old but weighs 18 pounds. His rear facing car seat only goes to 22 pounds. What do I do now?

When you go into a store or something since you don't use the infant seat, do you carry your baby or does he sit up in a cart or stroller? Just wondering.

I was able to find a carseat/carrier that held up to 35 pounds. I think it was an evenflo Opus 35. DS was okay weightwise, but was getting too long for his regular carseat and it was the middle of winter and I didn't want to have to get him a snow suit, too. We used the carseat carrier and a nano bag and hat all winter long.

Otherwise, I suppose you'll have to get a convertible carseat. One that can face backwards for the first year and then you turn it around when your child is past one year old.

Just want to add past one year old *and* 20 lbs.
