jumping nervous baby? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My DD will be 3 mos on the 21st but she is really jumpy like she has a nervous condition is this normal? The slightest movement startles her and her arms and legs fly and you can hear her little finger nails grasping on the blanket I thought they grow out of this by this age?

My DS will be 3 mos on July 3rd and he does this too. It seemed to slow down but now he is doing it more again. So its probably pretty normal.

No, my DS is 3 months and he just started to do this. Thier senses are getting much more acute now. For instance, I use to be able to vaccum with DS in the same room sleeping..now if i cut the vaccum on I would have to peel him off the ceiling.

He jumps at sounds that are louder then normal and especially when he is sleeping. I am pretty sure this is normal.

mine was 3mths yesterday and he does the same thing...even the coffee grinder freaks him right out! We have to muffle it with tea towels to have coffee in the morning. I agree with the others...pretty normal. I love the term.."peel him off the ceiling"

Its very normal. My DD is 9 months old and still does it. When she was born I had her bassinet in my room and when my husband sneezed she would get the fright of her life. Thank heavens she's past that. Now she is just very, very, hyper! Don't worry they are just sensitive to new sounds, new objects etc.
