Lumpy head? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My daughter has a lumpy head, for lack of a better explanation. At first I noticed her getting a slight flat spot, but now on either side of that there are two ridges. And then where her soft spot is there is a ridge. Is this normal? I know their plates change as they grow and stuff, but with her hair changing (thinning out) it's kinda noticable.

Is this on the "sides" or on the back of the head. I ask because when we went to the Ped. and she said out son was starting to get a "flat head", it was because she noticed the sides of hs head were starting to push out and look lumpy,not becuase he had a flat spot on the back per say.

Is this what you are talking about?

I guess so, sort of. I guess the ridges would be from laying on her sides, and the flat spot from laying on her her back. If you could imagine that.

What did your ped say about it? As per the chiro we've been holding her upside down for a few seconds at a time a couple of times a day. Something to do with blood flow and putting pressure on the plates to help them form or something. I was a bit nervous about it when she was little, but now she likes it. We make a game of it. She smiles and laughs when I do it, so it can't be all that bad.

Our Ped said to rotate him while he sleeps and when we change him...I never heard of hanging them upside down

I can't really see a difference yet..but thier heads get pushed forwards and the sides get pushed out from the flat head.
