How do you Bathe your babies?

Just curious. I have YET to find an easy way! I have a baby bathtub, but I always get water in DS eyes and he hates it. I can't wash his hair in the bath tub because of this.

I bought a sponge shaped like a bear and I put him in the big bathtub and lay him down on that...this works but I am afraid of getting water in his ears and them getting infections. I don't out hardly any water in there, just enough to keep him warm...

any suggestions to make this time easier?

Re: How do you Bathe your babies?

My DD takes a bath with me. I have a bad back so its hard for me to bend over the bath to bathe her. Its so much easier this way and she really enjoys when I get in with her. I do remember seeing somewhere that they have baby visors that they can wear so soap wont get in their eyes.

Re: How do you Bathe your babies?

I used to get the bathroom very warm first. Then I showed baby the tub so she knew what to expect and eased her into the water. If I didn't do it slowly, she beame a little uncomfortable, but if I took my time, she enjoyed it. The tub I have is at a 45 degree angle so that her head was completely out of the water. I scooted her plastic baby tub forward to the middle of the large tub. I turned on the water and tested the temperature of the water coming out of the faucet. Then, when it was just right, I scooted her tub back so that I could have her hair in the stream of the water. I was able to hold her head and turn it or lift it so that the water would not get in her eyes. It seemed to feel good to her. Of course, I had to be VERY careful to adjust the water stream and temperature before doing this, but this is what worked for us. Now we use a cup and pour the clean water over the back of her head while supporting her head. This is what we do now that she's older to prevent accidents.

Re: How do you Bathe your babies?

I know the best trick and I still use it on both of my kids! Get your self a pack of cloth diapers. They are super duper absorbant! Take one and fold it over longways so that you have a strip that's about 12 inches long and 2-3 inches wide. Then you wrap that around the forehead when you have to pour the water at the front of their head. For a little baby you'd just place it around that area. You'd wrap it all the way around when they are sitting up on their own. They are absorbant enough to take a few small cups of water. I usually have to wring mine out one time to get about 4 rinses done. And it will keep all that water out of the eyes. That seems to be more than enough to get the shampoo out.

I also have the best bathtub. It's called Primo. It's about $25. A bit pricey for a baby bath...but...It is modled to a baby's body shape and it puts them at about a 40 degree angle and they will not slip around or under the water. I loved mine after using a handful of other types. DD used it for about a year as it caters to lying down and sitting up.

Good luck! Bathing these slippery little angels is tricky!!

Re: How do you Bathe your babies?

my ds is almost 11 months old, and since he can sit on his own and what not, it has been much easier, I have a blow up bath, that I put him in, but mainly I have found it easier to just take him in the bath or shower with me, cept now, I have to have dh take him in the shower as he pinches at my nipples lol, he does to dh now too, but a little different. good luck
