don't babies typically start smiling by the time they're a month old? my ds is 6 weeks old and i still can't get him to smile for me. he stares at me with such a curiously intelligent gleam in his eye, and he coos, but still no smile. the strange thing is he smiles like crazy in his sleep, and even laughs in his sleep. he's been smiling while sleeping since he was 3 weeks old! what gives?
I dont know about "typical" but my dd started giving her real true smiles in her 7th week. All babies are different, and don't worry your time will come and your heart will probally melt just like mine did and still does and dd is now 7 months.
Hi my little man didnt start smiling much unitl he was about 10 weeks - he is now 16 weeks and giggles all the time. I wouldnt stress but i know i did the same what he was six weeks old - i kept thinking somehting was wrong as he wasnt smiling as much as some other babies but now he is as happy as larry!! I just put it down to him contemplating his world around him and taking it all in

i used to worry my ds was late to smile but once he did massive grins he did not stop and i can't remember how old he was but definately older than 7 weeks
