Preemie anyone?? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

I have a 3 month old preemie which was 3 months early. What does a term 3 month old do??? i know she'll be a bit behind for a while but i was just wondering. she holds her head up by herself....when laying on stomach she pushes her upperbody and head up and holds it there....she grabs at hanging toys but she cant hold them yet.....she hasnt started smiling yet (only while sleeping/dreaming, and she wont "stand up" while sitting in my lap......all ears if anyone has any info!!!

my ds was a month early but apart from the not smiling i think my ds wa sabout the same as your lo. she sounds like she is doing well considering how prem she was

She is doing very well......but the dr's had me prepared for the worst...but i really dont think she'll lag behind as much as they prepared me for so thats a relief!!! how long was your DS in the hospital for? did he have any problems??

no he was really lucky he was 6.15 pounds born can you imagine if he was full term yikes

his apgars were 9, 10 and 10 thankgod. i never prayed so much for ds to be born fine he was delivered by section a month early because my liver was a messs they still don't know why they are investigating my notes now to see if i had preeclamptic toxemia

god i felt so ill. i am pleased your dd is well i should imagine the worry was horrendous. i think the worst scenario is always given to cover themselves thankfully she sounds like she is doing great
