i am hoping you have the same brands for car seats as we do in theuk. i have a jeep cherokee i know you call this something different in the u.s but it is the smaller version of the grand cherokee. does any one know what car seats will fit a sthe seat slopes at an angle as oppossed to being flat tia

I drive a jeep wrangler -- small boxy suv with removable hard top. It's a new model, so it has places to anchor a car seat in the back. New car seats, newer cars have a Latch system, so you don't have to use seatbelts, but ties which attach to the hooks on the floor of the trunk or back part of the vehicle. So for the first year DS was in graco car seat in the middle of my car -- the base stays into the car and the carseat carrier latches into it -- we bought an extra base for DH's car. Then as he got bigger -- a year old I got an evenflow triumph. It's like a big old easy chair. It actually has reclining cabability.

Only problem with placing him in the middle of a 4 seater car is that anyone who road with me in the back seat, next to him had to be semi-skinny.

In any event I believe Britax makes car seats for the UK. Rather expensive and some people with smaller cars have had difficulty with them.

Weepy, I have the same problem with my car and the sloped seats. My Graco base is adjustable. The front can be raised or lowered to make the seat tilt. Has to be on the tallest setting, but works perfectly.

You can use towels to level them out. That is what we had to do, and we had them checked by numerous people, police, fire men, EMTs, etc... to make sure that it was ok.

Like other posters said there is often a part to adjust your seat in order to level it or you can use towels.
As an aside funny story about my not so bright self and especially not so bright dh...
When Brycen was first born he would scream his bloody head off in the car seat when we were in the car and his seat was in the base. We only have one base so when we use our van we just belt it in sitting on the seat (meets all safety standards, have no fear!!). Anyway, I kept looking at the car seat and saying to everyone that it seemed like ds was sitting up to straight, was uncomfortable, that it didn't look like this when Zack used it etc. but dh kept saying that he'd put it in right and getting mad at me for complaining. We have a new car from the one we had with Zack and the seats do slope (it is a Chrysler product too!!!) So one day after my 6 weeks of no lifting the car seat were over (after my c-section) I was going somewhere with my mom and we moved car seats around. As I pulled it out I realized that there was a leveler on the front of the base. Boy did we all feel stupid!!!!
