Lotion??? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

Hi ladies,
I have a 3 month old baby that has dry skin. I have tried several types of baby lotion, but all of them have made her tummy break out in a rash. I can put it on her arms and legs and even her back, however, when I put any on her tummy it makes her break out in a rash. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is there a lotion out there for highly sensitive skin? I hate to let her get too dry, but don't want her having an uncomfortable rash either. Thanks!

Is it the kind of newborn sluffing dry skin? That goes away on it's own. I can't remember how hold DD was when that went away..

Having said that, I LOVE Burts Bees. I have their buttermilk lotion.. it's so nice, and isn't full of all the crap in other lotions (which probably doesn't help sensitive skin).

My children both have fairly awful excema (sp?). Their skin breaks out from everything. Neither break out from Aveeno Baby Lotion, but my husband doesn't care for it because of the alcohol content in it (while they don't break out from it, it probably doesn't moisturize like it could due to the alcohol). Consequently, we now use either Eucerin Sensitive Skin Cream or Vanicream. I prefer Eucerin because it comes in a lotion bottle (Vanicream comes in a tub and therefore gets under my fingernails, which I hate), but both are very heavy and designed specifically for very sensitive, rash prone skin. I've never tried Burts Bees, but I've heard great things about it. You could try any of these three, and probably get good results.

Aquaphor is great too.
My son is 8 1/2 months old and has terrible dry scalp (only where his soft spot is too). It's a bit pricey but it works wonders and all you need is alittle of it! Good luck darlin', it can be bothersome.
