17.5 Month Old refusing to eat?? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My daughter is 17.5 months old now and in the past 5 days or so she has refused to eat. Yes, she still eats some baby food (mixed with cereal for texture) but hasn't had a problem until now. At her Daycare she usually eats more people food, (pasta, beans banana etc...) but never had any issues eating what I fed her (food and then Yogurt) at dinner. She picked up another cold (while on antibiotics) so there is no ear infection but could it be that she is changing her tastes? Could it be a "phase"? Or could she have a sore throat. Has anyone else with children at this age gone through this as well? How do you get them to eat better or more? She normally eats a lot of food at dinner. With out trouble. She is drinking a lot of milk - almost as if she is trying to satisify her hunger with her milk. The other night I filled her sippy cup like 3 times and she drank it all, but she got really crabby as if she was hungry but wouldn't eat what I offered her. Your advice is very much appreciated.

Usually when DS acted like this, I'd check to see if he had a fever. If he had a lowgrade fever, usually meant he was coming down with an ear infection. Sometimes, though he wouldn't have a fever. Other times he was teething.
He's such a happy go lucky little guy that if he was tired, more clingy, there was usually something going on. Oh, and he ALWAYS eats better at daycare and terribly at home. Think it's a peer pressure thing.

Thanks - my DD is on antibiotics right now, so I am pretty confident that it's not an ear infection. (Thank god!) No low grade fever.....but she is working two top "eye" teeth and on bottom eye tooth. She got the other bottom right eye took when her bottom molars were coming in.....her tops are still coming down and in - but the entire surface isn't through yet....those babies are taking a long time! Dang.....
