Question What do you do when the binky/pacifier falls?

What do you all do when the pacifier falls when you are out and about? Do you stick it in your own mouth? Wait and wash it off? Use some sort of wipe to clean it?

Re: What do you do when the binky/pacifier falls?

now ds is 9 months i either wipe it with baby wipes or wash it under a tap although i rarely do this as; a) i carry a spare and b) ds dummy is attached by a velcro strap to his jumper so it does not drop to the floor

Re: What do you do when the binky/pacifier falls?

I would not put it in your mouth, as I've heard that adults can transfer bacteria to babies by doing this. But, when DD's sippy (she doesn't use a paci) falls on the floor I just give it back to her. If I were out in public I wouldn't (I do keep spare spouts tho) give it back to her. I know it might be contradictory to give it back after it's fallen on the floor and to not stick it your mouth.. I don't know.

I'm not a germaphobe by any means. She's made it her life's mission to eat the dog's food, and on the rare occasion that she has succeeded she survived. She puts WAY worse things in her mouth all on her own.

I think if you're at home and you know you didn't wipe the floors with a raw chicken carcass, you're fine. But if you're out and about I would carry a spare.

Re: What do you do when the binky/pacifier falls?

my son is 14 months and has not taken a binky for about 6 months or so but when he did and it would fall if i could not get to a fountain or something, yes i would stick it in my mouth before his, i would rather have the germs than give it to him first

Re: What do you do when the binky/pacifier falls?

Given the choices of the situation I am in I would prefer to use a wipe or rinse in a fountain but I have used my mouth as well. I figure I'm smooching on him so much as it is, any germs I have he will probably have as well LOL.

If it's at home it just goes back in his mouth. He's slobbered on just about everything around here already as it is, even the dog.
