My dd is one year old on the 23rd of December. At six months exactly she got her first bottom tooth and the second one followed soon after. Since then all four of her top teeth have been sitting on the surface and then going back up. They have been threatening to cut through for months and giving my poor dd and DH and I a really tough time. She now has both her bottom premolars coming through too.
What can I do to assist these top teeth cutting through? She isn't a teethy baby, meaning, she doesn't bite and chew on her toys or teething rings much.
sherbet i feel for you. ds is 9 months we have had all symptoms come and go and i can feel his teeth below the gum. not a single one has popped yet. he keeps waking in the night a first for ds who has slept through 12 hours straight since 4 months old. i am hoping this sign means whats waking him is a sign the teethwill come through, i am forever hopefull i feel like ds has been tortured forever by them. i hope someone has some good advice for us too as no amount of chewing is doing anything.
I don't know of anything that can speed the process up apart from chewing on different teething aids, whaich you say bubs doesn't like.
Maybe you could try to make the teething toys more appealing by dipping them in a very watered down glucose & water, the nurses in ER used it when our little one went in and she just stopped crying instantly and just wanted more, and that was whilst they were trying to get a canular into her little arm.
Oh my gosh I could have written a very similar post, almost did. My ds is exactly a week younger than your dd. I swear he has been on the verge of getting his two top teeth for like 6 weeks. He has the 4 bottoms and the two top teeth on both sides of the front ones. I swear they poke out a little and then I can't feel them the next day! It is so crazy. He fell on his butt a week ago and actually his bootom tooth slit a little bit of his gums on one top tooth and that tooth now doesn't have to break through, you can see the tooth but it is not coming very fast. I don't think there is anything you can do to speed up the process except what my son did and slit it open himself! It takes on a whole new meaning to "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"
I would not let my baby chew on a sugar laced teething ring!! You think sleeplessness is bad with a teething baby? Add a sugar high to that.
Having said that, I have used frozen breastmilk, which she LOVED. I soaked wash cloths in it, and I also made ice cubes out of it. You could also try a piece of frozen fruit to chew on. I found once the teeth were under the surface some chewing helped break them threw. Frozen mellon has a good consistancy for that. I think once they pop it releases the pressure and they feel better instantly. The top were the worst, she got all 4 at the same time. She is just now starting to sleep again.
