Stage 3 food question

I have twins who are 10.5 months old. They eat stage 2 foods just fine and they will even eat bites of table food, but they don't seem to be big fans of stage 3 food. I have been trying to give it to them and they will eat maybe about the first five bites and then they don't want anymore. I know that they are still hungry because if I try to give them stage 2 food they eat it right up. They eat stage 2 food through out the day, and for supper I try to feed them stage 3 to get them use to the new texture. Any suggestions to what the problem could be? How I can get them to eat stage 3 food at a meal, I am getting tired of wasting a jar a day.

Re: Stage 3 food question

When I first tried to give ds stage 3 he spit it out like it was something awful. i strated letting him feed himself with some finger foods and he really liked that. I think it is the texture, when they eat babyfood they are used to it being smooth. He eventually really started liking stage 3's. he will still get freaked out if he has a smooth food and a piece of meat, like a finger food gets on the spoon,he spits it out. It just took a little time. Maybe just spoon some out in a bowl and then what they don't eat that is in the jar you can refrigerate. Good luck!

Re: Stage 3 food question

i am wondering whether they are not eating it because it is easier for them to eat the stage 2 foods less effort -i know my ds can be lazy like this. why don't you try giving them regular food that you eat my ds will eat bread, pastas, vegetables and chicken by finger feeding it to himself he has done this since 8 months and is requiring less and less supplementing with mashed foods -just a thought

Re: Stage 3 food question

I don't have any feeding advice, but if you're not happy wasting the jar of food and you know they're not likely to eat much of it, why don't you wash out a stage 2 jar earlier in the day and then when you open the stage 3 jar just pour a little of it into the other jar. If they finish that you can always add more, but if they don't, you can still refrigerate the rest of the first jar for the next day because only the small amount got germy.

Re: Stage 3 food question

There is an easy solution to the wasting of the food. Don't feed out of the jar, put a little in a bowl. If you feed from the jar, the remainder should not be saved. If you pour into a bowl, simply put the cap back on and you can refrigerate it for another 48 hours.
