Anyone got periods so soon after delivery? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

DS is 11 weeks old and I already got my second period. Is it not too soon to start your periods? I pump and DS is on EBM and formula; he is unable to latch.

Anyone had periods within 6-7 weeks of delivery when breast feeding or pumping?

I exclussively pumped with ds#1 and got my period 4.5 months pp...bf ds#2 and got it the same time but then not as regularly after that. This seems too soon for me but how often are you pumping and are you sure it is your pd and not just pp bleeding. Mine stopped for a week or so with both boys (at about 3 weeks pp) then started again for a few days...stopped again for a week or two and then I spotted for another few days.

Hey Baby-
I didn't breastfeed or pump, but I was one of the unfortunate ones who started my regular periods very shortly after giving birth. I only bled for about 8 days after giving birth to both of my childred, and then my regular period started 3 weeks after that. Both times.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I've always had a period every 21-22 days. (short cycle, urgh...) Were you on the pill before concieving or not? Also, before going on birth control (if you were on it) did you have a short cycle? Maybe it could have something to do with it??? Not sure, but that question just hit me while reading your post.

Our bodies are something else, aren't they?!?

I was just wondering about this too. My baby is 6 weeks old, and I just got my first period this week. I bled for 2 weeks pp, and then stopped for 4 weeks, and then got my first period. My dr thought it was odd as I am still breastfeeding, but I guess thats just the way my bodies going to do it. Im pretty sure it is my period and not just irregular bleeding as it has followed the regular period symptoms that I would get with myperiod - lasting for the same amount of time and same heavyness of bleeding and had cramping for a few days before it and got hungrier, all my usual period symptoms.

I dont remember if I got it this soon with my first ds, but I think it was a similar time with him as well.

While I have always breastfed him, for about 3 days I had to supliment with formula.
