Taking Newborn Out - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My DD is 6 days old, I have some things I want to get at the store, do you think I should take her out? I know they say not to take them out but I am dying to get out of the house. My DS was born in June so I would walk around outside with him just to get away from these four walls. Now I feel trapped because it is so cold outside. I took DD to my mom's yesterday. I put her in the carseat, wrapped 2 blankets around her, then the carseat sheepskin cover, then put a big afgan over that. Plus our car has remote start so we never get in a cold car.

I really think it would be fine. I know there are people that will disagree, but I never overly worried about stuff like that and my ped said it was fine as well.

Congratulations by the way on a 6 day old...WOW how exciting!! I have a 9 month DD...doesn't the time pass so fast. I would go out too. It sounds like you dress her really warm and protect her skin. Why not?

Unless you're in some of those places where it's like -60 wind chill and frostbite can happen in seconds...brrrrrrrr

I had her in April....I never appreciated how nice it was to have a spring baby.

i took mine out 3 days after she was born it should be fine if you wrap her up nice and warm mine is 7 weeks now dont time fly

My ds was born in November so it was already snowy and cold. I feel like I am stuck alot of the time it sucks. But I bundle him up and go to the mall or where ever it is we need to go. Just make sure baby is bundled well (don't over do it either) I Have one of those car seat sleeping bag things and usually put a blanket around him and his hat. He is a furnace!!
