When and how did you start your kids feeding themselves? I am a new mom and totally unsure how to begin. My kids are 15 months old should we be giving it a go now? I am kind of hesident because that kind of means that they are growing up.

At 15 months, I am surprised that they haven't already wrestled that spoon off you by force. Let them have a go any time, what can it hurt? They will make an appalling mess, so line your whole room with plastic.

Yes, my (almost) 15 month old does, and is getting very good with a fork too. You can put some in their mouth with another spoon in between bites so they get some in their bodies rather than all over their bodies. As the previous poster said, it gets very messy!

They are just starting to want the spoon themselves. They were content before just letting there mom feed them but I guess thay have to grow up sometime. Thank you.

i give sam the spoon and his fork with food on but i don't give him the bowl to feed himself from because he would throw it across the room ds is 14 months old btw
