Suggestions for bottles - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

I am 7 months pregnant and this is my first child. Can any of you tell me what bottles you had the best experiences with?

i dont know if you can get them in the us but since having my son the only bottles i use are called steriliser bottles, basically you put water into the lid and put the bottle in the microwave upside down and put it on for a min and a half and that sterlises it without the need for anythinng else i think theyre fab and they will be the only ones i use if we ever have anymore children

I first used the playtex nurser bottles and liked them. I used them for about 3months. I found they were hard to use once DS started drinking more than 4 oz. of formula though. The bigger Playtex bottles were just too big and bulky.

I now use Avent, but they do leak if you don't screw the lid on just right, which can be a pain. However, I like the size of the bottle now that DS drinks 6 oz. of formula. It also works well when it comes to the bubbles (lack of bubbles and air).

I also use the Avent bottles. I have tried just about all of them and seem to like them the best. I hear Dr. Browns are good, but there was just too many parts for me too worry about with them. When I started having my kids hold their own bottle, I found that the cheap Parents Choice bottles from Walmart work best. Use the 4 oz ones. They are small enough for their little hands. Both my kids could hold them very easily on their own until they could handle the bigger Avent ones.

I use Dr. Browns and love them! I've tried a few other brands and the difference is amazing! You can tell that baby isn't getting all that air in her tummy because of the way the Dr. Browns are designed.

They take a few more minutes to clean, but they are well worth it.

We also use mylicon drops in her bottles every day to help cut down on the gas. I think that's been a big help, too! Buy the generic ones ($3.50 vs. $12.00) since they work just the same. Plus, I keep threatening hubby that I'm going to slip some in his drink at dinner... ha!!! Keeps him on his toes... and his stinkiness confined to the bathroom or outside.
