Activity Center vs. Jumperoo?

I have a Graco activity center that DS loves. It bounces a bit, but I don't think it is as bouncy as a jumperoo or door jumper, but I am not sure. It has springs in it, but seems better suited for just sitting in and playing.

Do any of you have both of these items? I am thinking about purchasing a jumperoo or door jumper but am not sure if there is a big difference from the activity center. Thanks!

Re: Activity Center vs. Jumperoo?

Hi KeltoKel!

I think by 'activity center' you mean an exersaucer? I do have both. My dd loves the exersaucer (I have one upstairs and downstairs), but only for short periods of time. She is a very active baby and can't sit still for a second - not even while drinking her bottle or reading books before bed.

I have not yet used the jumperoo thing. I did bring it up from the basement last weekend, but we really don't have door jams to hang it from that leave enough room for jumping. And I certainly don't want to hang it in the bathroom's door jam. So I haven't used it yet. And I'm not sure that I will. I got it as a baby shower gift, so it's not like I spent money on it myself.

Also, and this is probably just me being paranoid, but my SIL had a stationary jumper and used to put her dd in it all the time. And with jumping her dd would always stand on her tippie toes and push off. So when it came time for her to walk, she'd do it on her tippie toes, hanging on to stuff. She was 15 months before she started to walk normal!!!

My dd loves to stand and pull herself up on things - flat footed. I don't want to screw that up! I know, I know, I'm being paranoid!

Anyway, the one exersaucer I have has these legs that you can pull down to make it stationary. Or you can put them up to make it 'bouncy'.

I guess if I were you, I'd really look to make sure you have a safe door jam to hang it from before buying anything.

Re: Activity Center vs. Jumperoo?

My experience is noise. My kids could really get the activity center moving, but the noise was terrible from all the toys. I stayed with just that because the jumperoo takes up so much space while I could fold up and store the activity center. If anything, I would try the door jumper.

Re: Activity Center vs. Jumperoo?

Thanks for your response gals. Guess I should clarify - the jumperoo is something that doesn't go in the doorway. A jumper does. I am interested in either one, I guess. DS likes his activity center (exersaucer) but I think he would also love jumping.

Thanks for your feedback Trooper. Interesting thing to note about the toes.

Re: Activity Center vs. Jumperoo?

Yeah, now reading what I wrote. I have the door jumper. My SIL has the jumperoo that is on the floor. That is what I would not get for my dd. I don't want to promote toe walking!

Plus those jumperoo things are absolutely HUGE!!! Talk about taking up space!

I already told my dh that we should just move all our living room furniture out because JJ's toys are all over the floor anyway. We have like 'activity stations' set up all over the place. It's ridiculous!
