Question Cradle Cap

Hello ladies I was wondering if any of you had any insight on this topic.
My DD will be 4 mo on 05/17/07, when she was about 3wks she had cradle cap, and it went away in about a 1 1/2 weeks. Well now at almost 4 mos, she has it again. I was just wonder if this was normal.

Your info. is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Cradle Cap

It's very normal. If it's mild you might just want to gently comb the scalp with a CLEAN comb. Do not scratch at it with your finger nails of anything else. You could break open the skin and set her up for an infection. Just washing with a mild baby shampoo helps 1-2 times a week. If you wash her hair more or to vigorously it will dry out her scalp and make it worse.
If it it is a more severe case you might want to get a prescription from your dr.
This is something that just looks worse than it is.
Good luck.

Re: Cradle Cap

We used Selsun Blue at her ped's suggestion and a gentle scrub brush and used it a couple of times a week and that did the trick.

Re: Cradle Cap

I also used a soft toothbrush and dandruff shampoo like Selson Blue or Head and Shoulders. Because my son has extremely dry skin like me, I stayed away from ANYTHING "baby" because they are so drying to his skin. Just b/c they say moisturizing, doesn't necessarily mean that's the case. The only baby product I use is Aquaphor's baby wash. We also greased up his head with Aquaphor lotion or Eucerin. Not very attractive, but it helped!
