bath time help

ds is 10 months old and we moved him into the big tub, he was just too active in the infant/toddler one. We even bought an inflatable tub you put inside the tub to give him more room but he was moving around too much for that too. The problem is now in the big tub he won't sit. He can walk now and walks in the tub, or stands. We have a non slip mat down but he still slips a little, I am always holding him so I catch him when he falls but it freaks me out. How can I get him to sit? He has lots of toys and used to play with them when he was in the smaller tub, now he doesn't. It has only been a week or so in the big tub so maybe he is juts not used to all the space.

Re: bath time help

My 13 month old has been doing this ever since we moved her to the big tub, right around the same age I believe. At first I use to have my husband hold her up (so she wouldn't fall) and I would wash her, but that wasn't always practicle since he works a lot. Now I have perfected holding balancing her in the crook of my arm while I wash her with the other. It's not exactly the most fun (or dry) experience I've had, but it gets the job done. I wish I had a trick to help you get him to sit, but I still can't figure it out for myself. She is just so active and likes to get into everything.

Re: bath time help

DS can also stand up in the tub, but he is still using the blow up tub (I can't get the tub clean no matter how much cleaning I do and grosses me out)

Every time he stands up I tell him to sit down and tell him why we always sit down in the tub, then I sit him down abd grab his thigh. He really has to sruggle to get out of this hold. So he usually goes back to playing.

So far it is working... But who knows for how long

Re: bath time help

We will sometimes just get in the bathtub with our son b/c he wiggles too much.

I guess the other option is to switch to a shower - perhaps he can shower with you?

Re: bath time help

hi

my 11 month old does this sometimes. I tried the big tub one time and no way he had too much room too sllippery. . . were back in the toddler tub and whenever he tries to stand up I tell him sit down and sit him down if he won't listen I jsut wash him and take him out. Other times he does sit and play. Also, I noticed my son started getting very overstimulated at bathtime with all the toys he used to play with. Now I put nothing in the tub at first and just let him splash or just put a clean wash cloth. Also I blow bubbles for him in the tub and he likes that. Also I let him brush his teeth in the tub (no toothpaste) he has a baby toothbrush that lights up and he loves to chew on the brush. Sometimes I run the water and he likes to play in the stream of water. I think they make this ring you can put in the tub and it has suction cups and it's like a belt. . .though I haven't seen it in babies r us but my friends kid had it years ago and used it until he was 2 or 3 it kept him sitting put in the tub I am trying to find one don't know what it is called.

good luck
