Toddler dont sleep good - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

ok so my son is gonna be two next month, i know he over age limit for this board but id like your imput, my son does not sleep good, at all at night, he wakes anywhere between 2 times to like 10 times. anyone got any ideas why, cuz idk anymore,lol, he sleeps in a twin bed, he been out of a crib since he was about 18 months, he lives his bed so i know its not that, he sleeps with his tv on, i tried without it and he screamed for it to be on...his security thing is his cup, i let him sleep with it, and we wake at night to change him because he gets so wet it soaks through, i thought maybe he heard things so we got a rain sound machine in his room, lately he scared of alot, is this just a phase?? i also have a 4 1/2 month old, let me tell ya i aint slept in like 2 years it seems!!!!!!!

I had to get an eggcrate mattress and really high thread count sheets. They are cooler and the eggcrate is sooooo comfortable. We didn't figure it out until he decided he wasn't going to sleep anywhere but our bed, so we made his just like ours. Now he sleeps all night.

My 4.5 year old son, myself, and my husband have sleep apnea and hypopnea.. severe sleep apnea. He had all the same symptoms and my pediatricians kept blowing it off as him being a large child and growing constantly.

Then they tried to blame ADHD and many other things. Nope just stopping breathing 30 times an hour at night and waking every two hours as his body rebooted. Sleep apnea due to enlarged adnoids and tonsils is highly common in toddlers and preschool aged children.

try giving them a choose or warnnings like do you want me to read a book to you or do you want music playin and sometimes I do both I read a story that is for bed time them tell mine goodnight and put soft music on as I leave.

does he have his back molars yet? around his age, they start cutting those back molars and that is HORRIBLE! my youngest is cutting hers right now (she's almost 20 mos) and has been for at least 4 months! she doesn't sleep that great either. we give her ibuprofen or tylenol along with homeopathic teething tablets before bedtime and that seems to help her settle down. when she wakes at night i will sometimes give her more teething tablets and either tylenol or ibuprofen (which ever one i didn't give her at bedtime!). anyway... totally understand the lack of sleep! hope it gets better for you!

oh! when we put our oldest into a twin bed, we bought a baby gate and put it in her doorway so she can't get out of her room and wander through the house in the middle of the night (i have this fear of one of them getting out the front or back door without us knowing!) might be worth a try....if your son knows he can't get out of his room, he might give it up and stay in his bed?
