Fisher Price has had a major toy recall today - involving 80+ types of toys due to the paint possibly containing excessive lead amounts. It is believed to affect 1 million toys in the marketplace. There is a lot of Dora, Elmo, Diego and Sesame Street toys.

I saw that, my son, who is 2, has a lot of thoes toys...the baby jaguar from Diego is his fav, he had it everywhere he went...think he should go to the Dr???

(he did have it in his mouth!)

i just read on the FP website that it's only the toys that were purchased AFTER May 7 of this year. but i do wonder how they narrowed it down to just those toys! i have a lot of the toys on that list, but most of mine were bought in 2004.... is it premature to say WHEW!??

My son also has a ton of those, and thankfully most were purchased before May of this year.....but I'm still considering getting rid of them ,I just don't feel like I trust them.

How do they get away with this? It seems to happen WAY too often. Does anyone even know why they would use lead in anything anymore?

i was looking at all the recalls in the past year, and it's really scary how many toys actually were recalled for lead! is there a way to find out about the toys our children have besides waiting for them to get sick? like a way to test them for lead paint? it really makes you wonder, doesn't it? i mean, who the heck still uses lead paint anymore???? how much lead does a child need to ingest before it's toxic? what are symptoms of lead poisoning anyway?
