Hi everyone.
My DD is really sick right now with a cold. She also has a pretty high fever. I usually catch everything. My DS is 1 month old and hoping he doesn't catch it either. But if I do can I still breastfeed? Thanks Sherri

Yes, yes, yes! Keep breastfeeding. You could pass a illness to the baby, however breastfeeding protects the baby against infection, and you should definitely continue breastfeeding in order to protect him. If he does get sick, which is possible, he is likely to get less sick than if breastfeeding had stopped. Also, if you were to stop breastfeeding you could actually decrease your milk supply or he may refuse the breast when you continue. So keep at it! Good luck. Congrats on the new baby.
Absolutely, don't stop!!! As you build your antibodies to that cold, you will pass them on to your baby through your breastmilk protecting him more than anything else you can do.
Ditto what everyone else has said.
And let me tell you that my dd is 8 months old (still bf twice a day) and throughout her 8 months I've caught everything in the world and she's only been sick once. I know I've caught all of the bugs she brings home from daycare, and she's remained fine thanks to me bf her and giving her the antibodies that I've built up while being sick.
When she's sick I feel like my milk is her medicine.... (kookie way of seeing it perhaps, but that's just me.)
