My 10.5 month suddenly refusing solid foods - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

Hi,
My daughter has always been a troublesome eater.
However 3 weeks ago she started daycare and this whole of last week she did awesome wrt eating..
She ate all her lunch and snacks (cereal, some gerber 2 foods and evem some gerber 3 foods) She had also been recovering from a cold and congestion etc.

Today after 6 days of good eating she suddenly starts to refuse ALL soild foods. I mean, I touch the spoon and she hides her face in the corner of her hi chair. After some frustration I've had to give her her formulae bottle which she has been happy with. I can't understand what is going on and am very frustrated and worried. She was still congested but is improving gradually. I don't know whether the congestion is related.

Please advise, I am getting rather worried if this is the sign of another problem to come onto my plate.

children go through phases. My daughter is 17 months and still goes through times where she doesn't want to eat. Also, the congestion could be still bothering her and making it hard to have an appetite and eat solid food. I wouldn't worry about it too much right now, just keep an eye on her, make sure she gets enough fluids and rest. Hope she feels better soon!

I wouldn't get too worried just yet. She's young enough that her formula will provide plenty of nutrition. If it goes on for a week or so I'd probably call the doctor to see if it's something to be concerned with. I hope she starts eating for you soon.

Lorelei is also 10.5 months and does the same thing ocassionally. Sometimes she'll just refuse food that I'm feeding her with a spoon, but will eat food that give her to pick up and feed her self (like bits of bread, cheese, lunch meat, banana, etc.). This can change from meal to meal and from caregiver to caregiver. For example, she'll still eat baby cereal and jarred food from my husband, but not from me. sigh.

Phases... don't ya just love 'em??!!
