Congenital heart disease (ASD/VSD)...info needed please - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

I am a new dad and also a new poster. I am glad to have all the wealth of knowledge from all the wonderful posters. I would like to know if any one has experience with congeital heart disease, specifically ASD/VSD. I have a son who is born with ASD and VSD. His echo shows both with no flow problems. On examinations, his doctors have determined that the defect is minor and the hole should close up in about a year. My wife and I are still very concerned and would like your advice. Thank you all inadvance and keep up the good work with all your info.

Welcome to Healthboards and to the Infant Care board. I'm sorry that you are going through this and hope you find some answers.

I believe that you will have a better chance of finding info about the specific condition you are asking about at the Cardiac board, though. In general, I've found unless you've got a question that is more generic about babies, this board is more focused on generic info about raising a child (GERD, spit up, feeding, coughs, etc.). If you have some specific ailment with respect to your child you're usually better off going to that board. Once you get to the specific board you can do a search within that board for the topic you are looking for.
