Piggy Piggy

My son will be 4 months Sunday. (WOW!) It was just 3 weeks ago that he was only eating 4oz every 4 hours and still not making it through the night. I can't believe that now he's eating 6.5oz every 4.5 hours or so and sleeping ALL night so still a total of about 24oz every 24 hours. How much were your babies taking at one time and in 24 hours at 4 months? Thanks. :-)

Re: Piggy Piggy

HI anhyre ~ My brother has six month old twin boys (born full term, 39 wks), so I tend to go to him for a lot of advice. When they were four months, the boys were at about 15 and 16 lbs. They were drinking about 7 oz every 4 hours. They have their last bottle around 10pm and sleep until 9am: WOW!
Sounds like your son is right on target. Just think, in another month, you'll be adding solids into your little guy's life! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing them home from the hospital.

Re: Piggy Piggy

Hey girl! Sounds like he is doing great, esp for being a preemie! Hunter is doing similarly. Although he is eating a little less. He is eating about 5oz every 3 hours. He has moments during the day that he just wants 3oz, but then an hour later will want the rest. This makes it very hard to make a bottle up! BUT he has been eating fully at night, then sleeping ALL night, up at 6am, eat 5 oz and then back to sleep until about 10-11am!!! This makes it very nice to be able to sleep in a little! OR be able to get some things done. There have been a couple times that I wonder if he would have eaten 6oz. But, 5oz is fine for now! I think overall he is getting at least 24 oz in a 24 hour period too. So, just about the same. Is your DS smiling at all that? I just LOVE this stage...where everything makes them smile, and my DS ALMOST laughed last night. It was so cute! It sounds like his reflux is getting better?? I hope, you SOOOOO deserve that!

Re: Piggy Piggy

He's been smiling for 2 months...but all the time lately. He's been giggling for a couple weeks but had a real LAUGH a few days ago & then last night. The only thing was, he was asleep both times, so he must have funny dreams, LOL. He's also grasping and shaking a rattle! How exciting! (That's as of today.) His reflux is still going downhill, but gradually. He's worst in the late afternoon and early evening, so a much smaller chunk of the day. I think we'll be able to hold outo until his appt less than 2 weeks away without an earlier phone call. He seems to have started teething too. He's drooling puddles and just a little cranky, def different than when he cries b/c of reflux. I tried some little teethers gel earlier and it worked wonders. He was able to nap for an hour, then bottle time. He's really growing too. I had to buy him new shoes the other day bc his NB shoes had gotten too small. NB pants are still a bit on the loose side, but preemies are too short, LOL! All in all he's doing pretty well.

Re: Piggy Piggy

Yeah, DS did that too, laughing in his sleep. Funny! I don't really put shoes on him...I have a few pairs, but they were so huge when he was a preemie, that I never bothered...hmmm...I will have to try now! He is completely outgrown newborn clothing. Preemies don't have a prayer now...and they were so huge on him just a couple months ago! LOL! They grow so fast! He has been teething now for a couple weeks (I had posted about that) and I have yet to try a teether. I will probably get some orajel so that he is more comfy. I also tried using Tylenol, and it works, but takes time. Glad to hear the reflux is better!
