I haven't tried orajel but I use Little Teethers (like orajel). It seems to have a better consistency and doesn't get washed away as quickly. I also put it on the top of the binky where it'll hit his gums so he can get it on that way. Usually he'll end up sleeping within 10 minutes of getting that binky and stay asleep for awhile. I'm not sure what else to try. I wrapped an icecube in a washcloth earlier and let him suck on it, but I don't see how that's any different from a frozen washcloth. Try teethers that aren't cool. Maybe he just needs something to chew on. And...rubbing his gums, this calms DS down. Also, DS seemed to want to eat more. I guess he was soothing himself with the bottle, but that can't be a BAD thing for an 11lb 4 month old, LOL. I hope they come through soon so he feels better.
