Anyone know what the cause could be for a 5 month old screaming all day UNLESS she's sleeping? She was the most perfect baby when she was 0-3, im stressed all the time from her screaming. It gets to the point where I have to put the sweaper on or blast music for her to sleep. *Even that sometimes wont work* I actually just heard a story of parents of a 3 month old who cried all the time and the doctors couldnt find anything wrong with her and finally they took her to an ER and foudn out she has a tumor on her kidney that was pushing into her heart. That scared me so we're actually taking her to the hospital tonight. I just wanted to get opinions from you's think im paranoid or am I doing the right thing?

Re: 5 Month Old SCREAMS ALL DAY!

You are an excellent mom absolutely doing the right thing!!!!!!! Don't let ANY of the doctors tonight give you the crazy mom treatment. You know your baby the best, not them, and you know when something is wrong. Force the issue and don't back down.

Best of luck. I hope your LO can get some relief soon.

Re: 5 Month Old SCREAMS ALL DAY!

Thank you. Im just so sick of going to her doctor and tell him shes crying and with out FULLY looking at her, puts her on all kinds of meds for Reflux and changes her formula twice. Do they ever stop to think that maybe its something more serious than that?

Re: 5 Month Old SCREAMS ALL DAY!

Is she on solids yet? My daughter started screaming a lot around this age and when I started her on solids she stopped. My ped. even told me that might be the cause of it.

It's a good possibility that shes teething. My son started screaming constantly when he was 2 months old, after a week I figured out it was because he was teething early. Try giving her some baby orajel...see if it helps!

According to her doc. shes not teething. I've been giving her orajel since she started this screaming phase, and nothing works.....We took her to the ER yesterday and they x-rayed her stomach and they said she has alot of air. But their still sending us to a gastroenterologist (Specialist that deals with intestines) to make sure nothing more is wrong.

Re: 5 Month Old SCREAMS ALL DAY!

My first born(40 years ago) was so bad with her screaming that I had to put her down in her crib and leave the house for a quick walk. Her daddy was in the Viet Nam war so I was living with my parents and the three of us took turns for months rocking her in the rocking chair 24/7 she cried and cried and cried...I didn't know any one could cry/scream so 6 months she was still still crying 24/7. Doctor said that the only thing wrong was colic. It wasn't until she was walking which she started at 7month and climbing out of her crib did she stop the screaming. I never thought I could live through that horrible screaming and crying and nothing we did would help. I don't know exactly when it stopped but I can understand why women hurt their babies if they have no help and are tired and you have this screaming creature that you nor the doctor can help you with. good luck !

Re: 5 Month Old SCREAMS ALL DAY!

She definitely could be hungry. My cousin's son would scream constantly! up until about 1 year. My cousin went into the hospital and her mom and I started taking care of him. She would always do everything "by the book", but I'd keep feeding him until he stopped, he was a very big boy. with in 2 days the screaming stopped!

I'm convinced he was just hungry...
