diaper rash? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

A question about diaper rash:

At each diaper change, we always put a big glob of Boudreaux's Butt Paste on out son. That has kept him pretty rash free. He is now just over 10 months and seems to have a nasty one that the butt paste is not helping. Our other secret weapon, which had ALWAYS worked in the past, is not working this time either. That is California Baby Calendula Cream. That stuff is like magic in a jar usually. It has cleared up eczema and nasty cradle cap within a day of staring it in the past.

Anybody have any clever tricks for me? We do the air dry thing and change him often, so I don't know what else to do.....

I should mention that this rash isn't so much on his bottom but on the sides where the leg and the body meet.

The best advice I can give is to leave his diaper off as much as you can. Also, use a blow dryer after messy diapers and baths to dry him completely before putting anything on him.

I put Neosporin on diaper rash first and then apply whatever diaper rash creme I'm using. Triple Paste works well. Sometimes I have put the Neosporin on and then some vaseline and that has worked.

I just use Vaseline and it works great. Have you tried Desitin? It doesn't work for my daughter, in fact, it made her diaper rash worse, so I stick with the simple stuff, (the vaseline) and it seems to work great.

We swear by Aquaphor. It's the only thing that has ever worked for our DD. It's pricy but worth it. Is you child teething? I notice when DD is teething, she seems to get diaper rash. It's pretty much the only time.
