how many blankets should my one year old have over her at night - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

Hi there i have a one yearold daughter who is a really good sleeper at night the only thing is she will not go her her grobag as she likes to move about. my concern is that i go into her atin the middle of the night and she has kicked her sheet fleece blanket and baby ****t of her. last night i went into her room she had no covers on her at all and the groegg said it was 18 degress in her room. I only put pj's on her. what should i do.

Ok, I think I understand your problem. Please forgive me, because I had to look up some terminology in your post because I see that you live in the UK. I live in the USA, so I wasn't quite sure of some things.
It's my understanding that the groegg is a temperature gauge? 18 Degrees Celcius is about 64 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a bit too chilly for a baby. If she will not stay in the sleepbag (which my baby won't either), then why don't you try layering? I dress my 15 month old in an undershirt and then footy pajamas. That way if she does kick her covers off, she still stays warm. She has slept through the night since she was 6 weeks.
Can you try keeping the temperature warmer also? We keep our thermostate set at around 70 F, which would be around 21 C. That way, she will only need a light blanket and it won't matter if she does kick it off.

I have always layered my babies and never bothered with the cover because they always kicked them off. I would put lightweight, long-sleeved pjs on and then a zip-up footed blanket sleeper on top. They essentially wore the blanket. I kept the room temp around 68-69 degrees farenheit and never worried about them kicking the blanket off.

I also do the layering thing but I still find it so cold in my DS room in the middle of the night. He's getting his premolars so lately he's been waking in the middle of the night. I leave his undershirt that he wore during the day on under his pjs. Right now he's been just wearing lightweight cotton footed sleepers. But I think I may start to break out the fleece soon. We keep the temp at night between 70-72 degrees. But I am still so cold at night and I have my furnace for a husband next to me. My poor little boy doesn't have the body heat to keep him warm. I think I will also start putting the flannel sheet on his crib too. When I put him down his sheet always feels like ice.
But we live in Canada so it's that of year again!
