U shaped Welt Rash - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

My 12 month old daughter has a U shaped welt that has a rash on top. It has not spread, it is staying the exact same size. After four days the welt faded a bit but the rash is still there and there seems to be a bruise underneath. It doesnt seem to have any effect on her and she doesnt cry when I touch or push on it. But it is taking forever to go away. She has had short lived rashes before but they usually take a day or two to go away and not a week. She did receive her 1 year shots on her leg near that spot three weeks ago, but I dont believe it is the same spot exactly. Anyone have any idea what this may be? Thanks for the help.

Although your baby had vaccination a couple of weeks ago, this could still be from the vaccines. You could take your baby in and have the doctor look at it, but they do not like to admit that vaccinations can cause any harm and will probably blame it on something else. Meanwhile, you can put some calendula salve or cream on the welt. You live in San Diego, so go to your local Henry's or Whole Foods and ask for something to help heal the welt.
