9 mo hasnt been drinking enough milk the past 2 days & seems weaker?! wht do I do? - Infant Care (up to 18 months old) Message Board

she usually drinks anywhere between 23-30oz a day, yesterday she barley took 16oz in total although for lunch she had a stage two vegetable and a stage 2 fruit, and for dinner she had a stage3 veggi and a full container of yobaby yogurt with cereal.

Today she had some of her breakfast, non of her lunch (gagging), 4 oz of milk and then i gave her some applesauce mixed with rice cereal and she ate that. But everytime i want to give her milk she pushes it out. She already has the top 4 teeth in and the bottom 3, I dont see anymore cutting through.
She doesnt have a fever, but she does seem a bit weaker, i mean she is crawling and all but she is standing for a shorter time than usual, she seems to be falling more, she is fussy.

should i call the doctor?! what do you think this is? should i swich to a diff formula?

I wouldn't worry. It sounds like she might just be getting a cold. My daughter used to do this too and sometimes still does this with her milk. As long as she is getting enough calories, than I wouldn't worry.
It sounds like she is making up for the lack of milk by consuming more solids, which is the next stage. You'll probably see more and more of this, which is great.
Does your daughter drink juice? You can always try offering her diluted juice if you feel like she's not getting enough milk tomorrow.
I really don't think it's that big of a deal though because I bet you it's just a little cold that's brewing.
I say give it a day or two and then make a phone call to the ped. if that's what your gut tells you. Momma knows best!

TO ADD TO MY WORRY, I just read on AP that the FDA found traces of melimine in the formula she uses, Enfamil LIPIL, NOW IM WORRIED.

I dont know if shes making it up with calories, she doesnt like juice (tried many kinds), she had some water today, but all she ate was apple sauce with oatmeal and then just an hour ago she had yogurt (she doesnt want any veggies, she keeps on gagging), I just tried to give her milk to put her to bed and she was pushing it away, so my husband is trying now. she had a cold one month ago and got the flu shot.

Im calling my doc tomorrow anyway regarding the formula, im wondering if i can switch it at this point>? im sure the doc will say that the levels they found itsnt high bla bla but i still wont give her anything that was contaminated!!!

So it was Enfamil?? Great, DD is on Enfamil Lipil AR. Are they confident that it is not in the Similac brands? I was about to switch her to the formula for older babies...I think this news is going to make me switch a little bit sooner.

My Dad just brought over 6 new cans of Enfamil though =(

I posted in the other thread about how confused I was, I mean all the doctors here are syaing we dont have to switch, but im not comfortable giving her something that even has the slightest amount of traces, I wouldnt drink anything myself that had something, imagine my baby!. I bought Similac advance but i read that it was also positive!

i took my baby to the doctor yesterday and she said she was fine, but that she has a little mucus in her throat and it should clear up, IM SO MAD, because i can tell my baby's throat bothers her, thats why she is not drinking enough milk, but I hate it when doctors say ur baby is fine just because she doesnt have a fever and looks chubby and is active....

im going to give it another day then if she still isnt drinking enough im taking her to another doctor
