Each baby is different, if you started solids and he/she has had all the ingredients in the puffs, rice or banana etc. then its probably ok.

I didn't give them to my girls, my dad did at 6 months and Halee did ok, while Grace got a stomach ache. Both my girls tried them and they had no teeth too.

My 9.5 mth old DD, who still has no teeth, has just started eating them and loves them. We tried them around 8 mths and she didnt really take to them, but now, she does great with them.

Re: how old does baby have to be to have gerber puffs

I was terrified to give them to my DD. One day when I picked her up from daycare, she said "oh, by the way I gave her some Cheerios today and she loved them." So I opened up the Gerber Puffs when we got home and watched in amazement as she used her pointy finger and thumb to pick them up and eat them. She was 8 months at the time. I'm paranoid so I still break them in half as I do with the Cheerios. The daycare mom doesn't. DD loves to feed herself. She would be happy if I dumped her jar baby food on her highchair tray and let her pick it up with her fingers. I do sometimes....when I give her something with carrots in it cuz it's easier to pick up. But it is a MESS. In answer to your question, I think the Gerber Puffs say when they crawl with their stomach off the floor they can have them.
