Re: days and nights mixed up

Unfortunately, I do not think there is an easy or sure answer to this. But, I will give you the advice I was given by some of my boys nurses from the NICU. At night make sure you keep things quiet and dark, and try really hard not to talk to your baby. (This can be difficult especially when he starts smiling!) Also, try to put him to bed around the same time everynight and start a routine. Maybe give him a bath and bottle right before bed. I use the halo swaddle me sleep sacks only at nighttime with my boys. So, they know that when they get wrapped up it is time for bed! I can put them to bed awake and they fall asleep on their own. They are only 3 months and have been sleeping through the night for about 2-3 weeks. Now, with that being said, your little guy is still very young and I think it is to be expected that he might have his days and nights mixed up. But, try to start now getting a routine going and eventually it will all click with him!

Good luck!!

Re: days and nights mixed up

My daughter is almost 6 weeks and she still hasn't quite got her days and nights straight. I have been trying to keep her awake as much during the day as possible but when she wants to sleep, she wants to sleep and there isn't much I can do to sway her from it. I have been trying to get her into a routine but I am having a hard time figuring out exactly how to do this. Your baby is still so new, so give it a few weeks for him to get adjusted to life outside of you.
