My 3mo ds has been having mucusy stools for 6 days now, and it's been every single one. Now tonight, I think there may've been a streak of blood, in the mucus. This was a rather large stool, and I couldn't quite tell if it was red or brown but anyway, it was there. So now I am worried sick and don't know what to think or do.... He's exclusively breastfed, and I haven't been eating anything new (besides cinnimon buns, but I've been eating those for a good month now on a regular basis). He's also been acting totally normal--no crankiness, happy baby, no other symptoms of illness or anything, besides nasal stuffiness (which he's had off and on since about 2 weeks old).
He has a doctor's appointment in a week from today, so should I wait to see if it happens again, or take him in right away? It's sometimes hard to get an appointment with his dr. and I don't know of any other decent ones, so I'd rather just wait and see and if it doesn't happen again, take him in for his check up as scheduled. But if this could be something serious, I will take him to a walk-in clinic tomorrow.
Any ideas what this could be? Does brown always indicate blood (I'd assume that red does...)? I'm so worried...
