Enfamil AR

Has anyone used this formula? My twin boys have been on this formula for about 3 1/2 months due to spitting up. They still spit up a lot, so I asked pedi if I could switch to enfamil lipil or a generic. She said that would be fine. There is not a generic for enfamil ar, that is why I wanted to switch them. (We are spending $75 a week on formula!!) So, I have had them on the generic lipil for 4 days. They are spitting up quite a bit! (Also, the AR constipates Connor) So, I am wondering if I can mix the generic lipil and the AR. Partially so it won't constipate him so much and partially so I can save some money. Does anyone know if it would hurt them to mix the two formulas? I hope this makes sense!!

Re: Enfamil AR

Enfamil AR worked great for my DD's spit up issues...stopped it almost completely. I asked the Dr if we could mix it (half AR and half Isomil) for similar reasons as you, and my Dr said NO, for what it's worth.

As far as spit up goes, we also had great success with Similac Sensitive AR....the only thing I didnt like was the high sugar content, but it stopped the spit up almost completely.

Hope this helps =)

Re: Enfamil AR

Is the spitting up causing any other issues, or are they happy spitters? Is there any other reason to have the boys on the special formula? I mean, is there any specific reason you don't just use regular generic formula? My first was a spitter, but she was a happy spitter, with no other issues, she just spit all day every day, no matter what she was fed (I breast fed and formula fed her)

So, I'm wondering if your kids might just be like mine? Maybe no matter what formula you use, they'll be spitters anyway? If that's the case, why not just go to regular generic brand formula???

I know Target has a pretty good selection of generic formulas, have you looked there?

I wouldn't mix formulas. They're each made for different purposes, having different amounts of certain ingredients that a baby is supposed to have so much of daily.... mixing them might mess with the recommended daily allowances somehow.... ???

If your kids are happy spitters, just invest in a lot of burpies, a lot of bibs, and carry a lot of extra outfits for them wherever you go.... I found that a receiving blanket worked great as a good burpie/clothing cover for me!!!

Good luck!
