 my 8 month old is on a bottle strike
For about the past month my 8 month old is refusing a bottle. He clamps his mouth shut and almost gags when anyone (my Mom, DH, or babysitter) tries to give it to him. I am still nursing him so I never give a bottle, but he was drinking 2-3 bottles of pumped breast milk a day after I returned to work in February. He has started solids and seems content waiting until I get home to nurse him. He doesn't cry or get fussy from not drinking all day.
My concerns are 1) is he getting enough breastmilk a day?-he's always been a big boy and has grown steadily since birth
AND 2) now that it is summer and the weather is warmer is it safe for him to not drink fluids all day? Will he become dehydrated?
We tried starting a sippy cup and he is more interested in that than the bottle. He won't refuse it, but he hasn't figured out how to drink from it either.
Any suggestions?? THANK YOU!!
