I am the Grandma of a two month old boy who screams after 8pm. He is smiling one minute and the next screaming/hysterical.. The sound of a hair dryer seemed to calm him down but even that is failing now. My daughter switched him from Similac Advance to Similac Sensitive. Her doctor didn't think it was the formula and so far he is still screaming at night. There is no way to console him. I noticed that it happens just before a bottle feeding. In the two minutes it takes to get the bottle ready he gets hysterical and then he can't/won't take the bottle. He crys himself to sleep. Then wakes and starts taking the bottle. Is this colic? Any suggestions out there?
Is she swaddling him nice and tight? That alone makes a world of difference. There are special swaddle wrappers out there with velcro closures that I thought were a Godsend. Go to Babies-R-Us and ask for the special swaddling wrappers with velcro.
At two months, he maybe on the verge of being too big for this. But let me tell you, if he wants to be swaddled and you do it, it's like an "off" switch for all the screaming.
