Post What baby bottles are the best??

Which bottles have you found to be the best? I had my last baby 6 years ago. A lot has changed since then.

I will be nursing again, and expressing milk. Also, I'd like to use the bottles for an occasional emergency meal of formula if necessary. This has worked well for me before. I've only used platex bottles before w/plastic bottle liners for this in the past.

I'm looking in to other bottles...I know that the Avent bottles are very popular. I've never used them. How are the infant bottles? Does Avent make a breast pump too that fits the Avent infant bottles?

What is the best breast pump out there based on your experience or research?

I'd appreciate any info!!

hi! this is such a confusing issue, bc there is so much out there to choose from! The bottles we use are the Dr. Browns bottles. There are a few extra parts to clean, but they are well worth the extra effort bc they totally help with gas and spitting up. We call them our magic bottles! But, I've also heard that the Avent bottles are good, and an added plus with those is that they do fit the Avent Isis breastpump. The playtex bottles and liners made my son so gassy and upset we avoided using them, so it just made more work for me. Now on breastpumps, the Medela lactina select is the best, hands down (IMO). But, since you probably dont have 1000 bucks to spend on it, you could get the Medela pump in style. That one is pricey, but sooooooo worth it. I got to use the Lactina select for free from my WIC office, and after I had used that one and established my milk supply, they gave me a Medela Pump in style for free! hope that helps, and if you have more q?'s let me know!

ashley

Thanks for the info! That's something that you are due one day after me.

Nope, I don't have $1,000 for that one pump. How did you get the other one free? Was it through your pediatrician's office or insurance? About how much does that Medela pump cost, if you don't mind me asking?

I've never heard of the Dr. Browns bottles before. I'll have to take a look at them. I've only had one baby who had a spitting up problem, but I if I remember correctly, she had a mild case of reflux, which she outgrew. I'm kind of looking for something simple. I'm afraid that w/too many pieces I might get frustrated. I just want my life to be as easy as possible with my 4th. I'm trying to do everything real simple. I'd still like to take a look at the Dr. Browns bottles. Do they sell them about anywhere?

Thanks again Ashley!!

Kippy

I used the Avent bottles and completely loved them. I dont know if you plan of breast feeding but their nipples are very similar to the breast and right from the beginning my daughter had no problem with them. I took a couple to the hospital with me and they used them right from the start so when I got home I did not have to try and get her used to my nipples instead of the hospital ones.

Ashely - Oops - guess I was reading a little too fast. Well, that's still cool -- you birthday being so close to my due date. Never know, maybe we'll end up sharing the date for birthday celebrations!

That's great that you got that pump through the government program. Was it a single or double one? I'll be going to Walmart soon. I'll check out those Dr. Browns bottles. We are one of those that haven't used birth control yet...I think if we do, we'd try a natural means of BC. It's not due to our religion either (we're Baptist), it's just a preference right now. We love children, so if we have more, that would be okay.

Josieolson - That's a great idea about taking the bottles with you to the hospital. I plan on nursing, and using these bottles when I express milk, or in an emergency need of formula. Also, I usually only nurse for about 5-6 months, so after that, I'd be using formula. Did you nurse?

I'm wondering which breast pumps fit with the Avent bottles, in addition to the Avent breast pump. How well does the Avent breast pump work?
