infant food allergy?

My son is three months old and has been eating Elecare thickened with Earth's Best rice cereal for about two months. Just recently he had his first eczema outbreak and started having very very loose BM with lots of mucous. Since this i sthe only thing he eats, i am wondering if it is possible that he developed and intolerance or allergy to the rice, even though he did not have any reaction the first two months? This is the only way we can stop his reflux along with meds so I am at a loss as to what we will do if he can no longer have the rice cereal.Anyone who knows anything about this kind of issue or has had it, I'd greatly appreciate the feedback

Re: infant food allergy?

Elecare contains both corn and soy - your son is much more likely to be allergic to one of those ingredients when compared to rice (which is pretty hypoallergenic). I'm actually shocked that Elecare labels itself as "hypoallergenic" but contains corn and soy - two extremely allergenic ingredients! Might be worth looking into.. I'm also just wondering what meds he is on for the reflux - and perhaps he is having some sort of reaction to that, or it needs an adjustment...

Re: infant food allergy?

It very well may be the formula. My daughter was hypersensitive to a common preservative that is in formula and baby food. We had to make everything for her.

Re: infant food allergy?

Factory made food. TWO factory made foods ..... in a tiny, delicate, baby belly. Should be explanation enough.
