Unhappy 15 month old son and fever

My 15month old son had vaccines on Friday.Saturday evening we called 911 and i began cpr,he went into a febrile seizure and stopped breathing with a very faint pulse. They brought the fever down and sent us home.Monday back in er with elevated fever again.Once again they sent us home.Said to give tylenol and motrin every 4 and every 6 hours.Ok,been doing so yet it's Tuesday and fever still present. The doctors act as if it's nothing worry about but as a mother who them doctors told"he would have died had you not began cpr"this is a very huge concern of mine.Does anyone know will this stop? Will the fever go away and stop spiking?I fear for his life. This seizure was bad and never gone through this before i'm unsure what to do????

Re: 15 month old son and fever

Yes, the fever will go away within a few more days at the most. According to my mother, I ran a high fever for 3 days after my shots, too. Keep dosing with Motrin and Tylenol, keep monitoring his temperature, and call the doctor again if it goes much over 104, lasts more than a week, or if he vomits repeatedly and has trouble keeping down liquids.

Febrile seizures are scary, but usually not harmful or serious in the long run. Until he reaches school age, just watch him when he gets a fever.

Re: 15 month old son and fever

Thank you so much!!!I appreciate you taking the time to try and help.Eased my mind a little. One more question, they said to do the alternating of meds which im doing. How ill i ever know if its gone if i continue to give it around the clock?im afraid if i stop the meds it will spike and he'll go into another seizure.

Re: febrile seizures and a unknown new fever

A vaccine reaction shouldn't last this long, and it shouldn't go away and come back like that. Definitely call the pediatrician again, it might be he has a virus or something.
