Does anyone test for skin parasites. I have in my scalp and sometimes in my eyes worms. The ones in scalp are identical to a strand of hair unless magnified. I have used a jewelers loop to see them. They rise out of the hair folicles(or pores) and quickly lengthen to the length of my hair,or attach to it. The ones in eyes are a little different. My Dr.,a family MD, has seen them on my head, but never in his career. My eye Dr.,optometrist, only saw tissue in eye that(appeared to have been gnawed on and damaged. He prescribed antibiotic TOBRAX.Both referred me to infectious disease specialists,1 doesn't do parasites, the other,$300 office visit only. I am recently laid off and no insurance. County Health Depts. have been no help referring me. Noone knows where to get affordable lab tests. I need lab tests,Blood and Skin to identify this so it can be treated. The only thing it seems to resemble, almost exactly from my online research, is Onchoceras volvulus, which causes Riverblindness Disease. Because it is not known to be contracted in United States, it is being ignored that this could be it. This is too serious to ignore and need to confirm or eliminate it. CAN ANYONE HELP ME.I live in sothern Califonia,Orane County.

It's not Onchocerca The skin manifestations of onchocerca are very different. You could just have head lice...have you tried one of the head lice combs/shampoos they sell over the counter? It might be an option while you're waiting.
