gangrene fingers fasciotomy

hi. i was injected with a tablet called zanax one night drinking out on the town. something i have never done before. i was injected into my bisep and my arm hurt like hell and went numb. an ambulance was called and i blacked out from the pain. i woke up in hospital the next day with a fasciotomy on both sides of my arm. my finger tips felt like they were being cut off by a power saw for about 9 days till they put me on gabapentin. i didnt sleep at all for those 9 days. after the gabapentin i started to get some sleep. about 5 days later my finger tips started going black starting with my little finger. blister type bubbles under my skin started appearing oozing with puss. i showed the doctors, still in hospital, and they said it was lack of blood flow and to let it take it natural course as the body is declaring what it wants to keep. then my little finger tip swivled up and became rock hard like dried leather. then another finger got a black spot which started to spread to my first nuckle going hard, now another finger. all are oozing puss. all my finger were and are swollen. now my little finger is swelling again and red above the black area. the doctors still say, despite the ***** blisters, that it is not an infection, and that it is caused by lack of blood flow, and to keep my hand elevated to reduce swelling. i think this is known as dry gang green. apparently wet gang green is when ***** bubbles are present which is what i have, but the vascular team say it isnt. watching finger after finger die is breaking my heart. i have tried to get transfered to a private hospital but after my doctors speak with them they refuse to admit me,saying they either dont have the beds or they cant accomodate my needs. i am on 100ml of methadone and 10-20mg every 2 hours oxy norm and 600mg three times per day of gabapentin for the pain and augmentin 500mg per day. i have tried to contact specialists outside the hospital but being seen immediately is not been possible. i am at my wits end. i am 38 years old and this is devastating. any advice would be most appreciated. i need some help with this please. pic attatched. regards. joseph

Re: gang green fingers fasciotomy

Hi there, I am very sorry this is happening to you. I'm not completely sure what is going on, but I can tell you that if this happened as quickly as you describe, it was not alprazolam (Xanax) they injected you with. It sounds like you were injected with something that has vasoconstricting (i.e. tighting of small vessels) activity and the most likely culprit is something containing an amphetamine. Gangrene which happens that quickly is usually result of something which causes blood vessels to close quickly. The infection you're experiencing now is a complication of having little blood flow to the area.

Why are the doctors not helping you? Is it because you don't have insurance?
