| High WBC count - Bacterial or Viral infection
I had protected sex with a person whose HIV status I am unsure of.
Four weeks after sex, I got severe tonsillitis and fever. White patches were formed on my throat..It lasted for 10 days.
The doctor (to whom I didnt mention about my sexual encounter) asked me to take the WBC count test....
The result was showed abnormally high WBC count (in the range of 16000) and high lymphocyte count of 56 was also flagged in the report
Its now 50th day since the sex. I am completely healed of the fever now
But I am worried if this was the acute HIV infection. If it was some unrelated bacterial infection, I would not worry..
So, high WBC count means bacterial or viral infection?
Does WBC count becomes abnormally less for viral infections?
