Newly diagnoised with mono at 56
Was diagnoised with mono at age 56 this week. Throat culture done, positive mono, negative for strep. Scratchy throat, headache, temp x 5 days and leg weakness are my symptoms. Was told to stay home from work 1 week. I work in a hospital where i got this. My question, reading online it said rare to get mono over 40 years of ago but not impossible. Has anyone had mono at
this ago?? Also, the internet said a positive mono at an older age could indicate lymphoma or leukemia. My family doc said my cbc was not bad and it appeared to be a mild case on mono. If no better monday he will do more blood work. Any feedback on the age question or anyone knowing about the lymphoma, leukemia theory would be appreciated. Thanks and have a good day.
