IV antibiotic treatment.

My husband developed pseudamonas UTI when a catheter was removed and it keeps recurring because of two kidney stones. They are unable to get the stones out because he is a high risk surgical patient. They are now talking about IV antibiotic treatment and I'm hoping this can be given at home. Has anyone had IV antibiotic treatments at home? If so how was it to handle? Thank you.

Re: IV antibiotic treatment.

Dear Pixpuf:

I have iv antibiotic treatments at home many times. They will usually will insert a PICC line in his arm at the hospital and than a nurse will come to your home and show him how to give himself the iv on his own.
The nurse will usually come to your house at least once a week to check to make sure everything is going smoothly.
Hope this helps you some and that your husband is feeling better soon!
