Hello all, I was admitted to hospital last night with a severe allergic reaction. Thankfully I have recovered and am now at home. Whilst at hospital, I noticed a tender, red rash on my leg at around 5am. I alerted the nurse and she said the doctor would see it when he came to review me. The doctor came around 9am and he discharged me regarding my allergic reaction. I showed him the rash but he just glanced at it and said it looked like a bite and nothing to worry about. I try not to doubt a doctor's opinion but I dont think it is a bite atall as it isnt itchy or lumpy. It only started to appear AFTER I was admitted to the hospital ward. I have had another look and it has now turned into a crop of blisters. It is not itchy or hard. It is red, swollen and tender and I am getting pain around the site. I also have eczema but as I have mentioned it is different to any other rash I have ever experienced and it isnt itchy or dry. I am just worried after reading up on MRSA and Staph infections that it could be linked to this and I know this can be serious? Ive also read up on Shingles and Herpes and wonder whether it could be either of these. I did an MRSA swab upon entering the ward so I dont think it could be MRSA as they would have informed me surely? Although the test did just lay on my bedside table for 3 hours after they had carried it out and they forgot about it being there.. Maybe im worrying for nothing but what do you think?
