Fever of unknown origin

I have had a low grade fever since the spring. My normal is 96. This fever runs up to 99.8-100. It makes me so hot. My Dr. Was going to do tests but insurance wouldn't cover them unless he said cancer. The fever got better for a bit, now it's back. I am seeing an infectious disease Dr on the 24th. I guess my Dr will do tests also. Anyone else have low grade fever???
